On Sunday, June 12, the very first edition of Tipsy Toucan will take place. After a long winter, Van der Valk Hotel Mechelen will reopen the ‘Patio’, the hotel’s cosy courtyard.
Enjoy the Patio
Anyone familiar with the Van der Valk hotel in Mechelen probably also knows that the building is popularly known as ‘den ouwen dok’. Den ouwen dok refers to the old municipal swimming pool that was housed in the building and where many inhabitants of Mechelen used to learn to swim. Since 1997 the historic building has even been recognized as a protected monument. The unique building was completely restored by Van der Valk not so long ago. The old swimming pool has been preserved and now serves as a beautiful ornamental pond. The Patio is located around the pond and during the summer months it serves as a beautiful open-air location for (company) events and wedding receptions.
Open-air parties
To open the Patio festively again this year, Van der Valk Hotel is collaborating with Grey Goose Vodka. Together they came up with ‘Tipsy Toucan’ (#vivelavodka): an easy-going party on Sunday afternoon where everyone is welcome! On this day, Van der Valk Hotel Mechelen will serve surprising Grey Goose cocktails, summery aperitifs and of course delicious tapas. From 3 pm to 9 pm local DJs will provide an extra atmosphere and cosiness and the sun will be out too. You’re coming too, right?
