Mallorca, an island that belongs to the Balearic Island archipelago, is as big as the province of Antwerp. However, the island is so diverse, with many different landscapes. I have been living on the island since August 2020 and it continues to amaze me.
Let’s take LJs Ratxó Eco Luxury Retreat for instance. Hidden in the mountains between Galiea and Es Grau. To reach this retreat you need to navigate to Puigpunyent, a small, picturesque village some 15 km from Palma.
The hotel is located just outside the village center, at first the road is of very good quality, but it quickly turns into a true off-road experience. Don’t panic, an SUV is not a must, just more convenient to get there.
The road is 4 km long. The domain is well hidden, after passing two well secured gates you arrive at the domain. At first, I didn’t know what to expect. It was so quiet, it seemed almost deserted. But it is also a retreat … So just follow the arrows to the reception. A charming young man was waiting for us there. The staff dress in a peculiar uniform, a kind of kimono with a brown belt. I got the feeling that I had arrived in a monastery, but then equipped with every luxury you can imagine.
I was upgraded to a different room type, the focus of LJs Ratxó Eco Luxury Retreat lies mainly on recharging your batteries. Don’t get me wrong, this is high-level regeneration, but with respect for nature. And this is reflected in all elements. Simple, yet very luxurious. There is a beautiful outdoor pool, equipped with beautiful sofas and with all utilities. Adjacent to the swimming pool is a beautiful wellness, which can be used completely free of charge, swimming pool with a jet stream, dry sauna, hammam, etc.
I also booked a massage, and here you immediately discover that you are in a prime location. Some hotels offer expensive massages, but often performed by incompetent staff. Not here, one of my best massages ever!
I had booked a table for the evening at the restaurant: Roots. Again, simply yet stylishly furnished. What struck me is that quality also prevailed here, both for the wine and the menu. Roots opts for daily fresh products that are all organically grown and many on the domain itself. Honestly, when you taste these dishes, you conclude that we have forgotten what vegetables or meat really taste like.
You can sleep peacefully in LJs Ratxó Eco Luxury Retreat, except for the peacock, the personal guard of this resort.
Breakfast then. The frugality that is excellently converted into quality again surprised me. Take the scrambled eggs, you immediately see from the color that they are produced by quality chickens, but also the whole breakfast is organic.
LJs Ratxó Eco Luxury Retreat Is not for customers who are looking for buzzing hotels. On the contrary, this resort is for people who want to relax, away from the hassle of everyday life. All this surrounded by staff who work with great attention and good service, everything runs a little quieter than we are all used to, but aren’t we all looking for some genuine peaceful moments once in a while?
