Since May 2022, Soccarrat has been organising interactive paella workshops in a bespoke venue in Leuven. After an aperitif with tapas, participants are immersed in the world of paella. Then, under expert guidance, they will prepare their own paella at a giant cooking island.
Those who prefer to leave the cooking to others can also opt for an alternative concept: a paella dinner with live cooking
Teambuilding
A workshop is usually booked as a group, e.g. for a teambuilding or family gathering. In that case, the programme can also be extended in cooperation with some local partners such as Braxatorium Parcensis (the brewery within the walls of the beautiful Park Abbey, a stone’s throw from Socarrat), Leuven Inside Out (original guided walks in and around Leuven) or Gravel Bike-rent (gpx tours in our beautiful region).
But Socarrat also regularly proposes its own dates on its website where individual or small group registrations are possible. These workshops attract a diverse audience, from enthusiasts to caterers, and are a guarantee of an enjoyable evening!
The chef
Ward got a taste for paella 20 years ago, during an Erasmus year in Spain. His passion gradually evolved into a secondary activity, and three years ago he took the plunge from a job at the bank into full-time entrepreneurship. Former colleague Tom joined the team in the meantime.
It’s all about paella
After the total renovation of a former bakery in Leuven, all the ideas and initiatives of the past years came together in one place.
Besides paella workshops and dinners with live cooking, there is also a takeaway offer on Fridays and Saturdays. And under the name “paella@theoffice”, Socarrat prepares a giant pan of paella on location. The dining room opening onto the garden is also rented out as a meeting room, with or without catering.
Finally, the specialised shop www.paellawinkel.be , with a very wide range of paella materials and ingredients, has been given a real shop window at this location.
Socarrat
Socarrat – we almost forgot … that’s the name for the caramelised, crispy layer of rice at the bottom of the paella pan 😊.
