Beer Castle in Izegem hosts livestream EPP conference

Election fever is on the rise and event venues are noticing this too. The Bierkasteel in Izegem welcomed the EPP, the largest and oldest group in the European Parliament, at the end of February for a congress on the future of European agriculture. A trending topic in an equally trending setting.

On 22 February, the Beer Castle opened the doors of the majestic Foeder Hall to some eighty Flemish agricultural experts. Among the speakers at the congress were Flemish agriculture minister Jo Brauns and Lode Ceyssens, president of the Boerenbond.

The congress could be followed all over Europe via a livestream. The keynotes were translated live so that all attendees and viewers could follow everything in their own language. After the congress, the party headed to the Ballroom for an extensive networking lunch.

Recording studio

Incidentally, this is not the first time the Foederzaal has served as a recording studio. The second season of the entrepreneurial programme Goe Bezig! was recorded in its entirety among the wooden beer barrels. Just last year, the Foederzaal was the final destination of the popular VTM game show Destination X.
