Monday, October 7, was an educational working day for many schools. The Sint-Donaas comprehensive school went to extremes on that day, organising a major conference for its 900 corps members at the Concertgebouw and the nearby Exhibition, Meeting and Congress Centre (BMCC). For a whole day, they had the chance to delve into topics such as digital didactics and classroom differentiation, and were given immediately applicable tips from subject experts. New, scientific insights that increase the quality of teaching in everyday classroom practice.
From backstage to atrium
Every nook and cranny of the Concertgebouw was covered during the conference, from the inspiring Angel Room to the backstage Artists’ Foyer, which served as a workshop space for the occasion. The Atrium functioned as the central hub; from there, everyone quickly found their way to the various indoor and outdoor areas. Traiteur Deldycke provided a refreshing energy boost between all the sessions.
Music to close the event
A congress in the Concertgebouw is only complete with a musical element. The closing plenary moment in the Concert Hall was therefore not yet another presentation or panel discussion, but a three-part musical piece, performed with passion by dozens of teachers and pupils of the comprehensive school. A brilliant conclusion to an enriching conference day.
Expertise and support
Setting up a congress of such magnitude is a challenging undertaking for a school group. From the very first idea to the last note of the Sint-Donaas band, the organising committee could count on the expertise and support of the Concertgebouw.
‘Preparing the congress for our school community was not only finding accommodation in the most beautiful concert venue in Bruges, but also cooperating professionally and warmly with a team of staff we could rely on 100%.’
