Ghent-based team-building platform Funkey has raised 1.15 million euros in a second capital round. This from Vincent Goemaere (ex-CEO Stardekk), Pierre Swenden (ex-CFO Stardekk), and the 5 pre-existing business angels, supplemented by a credit of 250,000 euros from Belfius. Funkey, known for organising team events, will use the capital for further development of their team building platform and SaaS platform Funkey Bizz, as well as to expand the business to the rest of Europe.
Through Funkey’s online platform, companies can easily and quickly find and book a customised teambuilding activity. With Funkey Bizz, Funkey also introduced a teambuilding management platform for organisations with more than 100 employees a few years ago.
New investment round and ambitious growth plans
With the help of a previous capital round in 2022, Funkey developed a completely revamped platform that will be launched in the spring. With the new capital round, Funkey wants to focus mainly on scalability, to conquer the whole of Europe by 2030.
In addition, the SaaS platform Funkey Bizz will also receive special attention. ‘Funkey Bizz allows us to tie large customers like Proximus to us through a unique platform. About 10% of our teambuilding requests currently come from Bizz customers. We want to grow that share further.’ said Cobus van Gheluwe, CEO and founder of Funkey.
Accelerated expansion and new opportunities
This second capital round marks the starting point for intensive growth in the Benelux and later Europe, with market leadership as the ultimate goal.
