De Ark-the only multifunctional floating event location in Antwerp-has left her berth in Albert Canal next to restaurant Het Pomphuis for five years because of the Oosterweel works. She is now docked at the Oostkaai of the Kattendijkdok, where your event will take place with a magnificent view of the city. The south-west orientation allows your guests to party, meet and dine with the sunset in the background.
The Ark was created in 1993 on the occasion of Antwerp Cultural Capital.
A simple barge (named Arizona) was converted into a theatre and event hall by architect Bob Van Reeth for the occasion. Back then, she was also located in the Kattendijk dock, but on the Westkaai. Since 2002, De Ark served as an event location next to Het Pomphuis, until now because of the Oosterweel works. Consequently, De Ark now returns for five years to the place where it all began: the Kattendijkdok.
Apart from her new anchorage, nothing will change on board De Ark.
