If you are looking for a venue where both business and pleasure can be combined, including fine dining, fine accommodation and a relaxing stay, private island Oesterdam is the right place. Located in the Netherlands on the Delta Works, a stone’s throw from Antwerp, Oesterdam is traffic jam-free. Olivier Wauters, Executive Director of Eventonline drove to it and had a chat with Remco Schuurbiers, Oesterdam’s Managing Director.
“We started in 2019 with the idea of developing a luxury resort here, and over the years this has continued to expand,” explains Remco Schuurbiers. “In the meantime, our Marina Beach Club has opened and we have already had the pleasure of hosting many beautiful events. All the activities we do fall under the heading of Oesterdam Events.”
So what is an Oesterdam Event? “That can be an escaperoom to an event with 900 participants. And everything in between,” states the Managing Director. “We are in the middle of nature here, the last dam of the Delta Works. Our site was raised for those works and when the works were finished, they had no use for it. We are really anchored here in that nature, in the Zeeland character.”
“We opened in June and it was a great success right away. Our facilities include a hotel with 34 hotel suites, with an event room, rooftop, private dining, three business rooms, and an event venue where you can go rib boating, paintballing, buggy driving, escaperoom. Parking right outside the door, surrounded by the luxury of the waterfront setting, with the Oosterschelde on one side and the Zoommeer on the other, so salt and fresh,” says Remco.
Oesterdam has an excellent geographical location. In the middle of nature, yet close to the motorway and barely 20 minutes from Antwerp. “You look right on to Antwerp from the hotel,” says Remco. “Also on Zeeland, Brabant and South Holland. We really are strategically located.”
Everyone should be able to feel at home at Oesterdam. “It’s a private island, a bit Ibiza-feeling, but one where everyone feels welcome. We work with honest, regional products, in-house catering. We have a chef who can work at star level and we want to reflect that on the plate. An honest product, but something you won’t find everywhere. Just bring along that Oesterdam feeling.”
