In March 2022 Pentahotel Brussels City Centre was awarded the Green Key international eco-label. The Green Key programme aims to promote sustainable development in the global tourism industry and is considered the leading standard for excellence in the field of environmental responsibility and sustainable operation. To be awarded the label, hotels must meet strict criteria ensuring that sustainability is integrated at a very high level in the management and operation of the establishment. An on-site audit is carried out and conducted again after a year and then every third year.

The award in Brussels is just one step in Penta Hotels’ sustainability journey. The brand is currently undertaking a major project to present an official CSR strategy and long-term planning later this year and has implemented sustainability into many everyday practices. Staff wear organic, recycled uniforms, new bedding is sustainably sourced, and single use bathroom products have been replaced with dispenser units from clean cosmetics brand Zenology. Switching to completely plastic free breakfasts and printing all menus on sustainable hay paper are other recent developments and when developing partnerships and supply chain Penta looks for likeminded companies such as Belu and OneTreePlanted.
In 2020, several Penta hotels implemented hybrid events, with Pentahotel Brussels City Centre leading the charge. One of the motivating factors in this was the huge reduction in carbon footprint that is seen with virtual or hybrid events. With nine meeting rooms across the top floor of the hotel, Pentahotel Brussels City Centre offers a range of half day and full day rental packages of all meeting and hybrid event spaces, as well as varied technology options, in order to tailor make the perfect meeting or event.
