Sofitel Rome Villa Borghese: Another gem in the Italian capital!

Eventonline has been around for more than 18 years now. After all these years, we have worked for many major hotel chains, including the well-known French hotel group Accor. When we travel abroad, it is a matter of course that we stay in a partner hotel.

Recently, my trip took me to Rome, where I chose the beautiful boutique hotel ‘Sofitel Rome Villa Borghese’, located in a former 19th-century Roman palazzo. Sofitel Rome Villa Borghese is located in the heart of Rome, a few minutes away from the city’s most beautiful sights, such as the Spanish Steps, the Trevi Fountain and Villa Medici. The hotel gives the feel of a traditional Roman home with a relaxed atmosphere and a sense of being truly immersed in the Italian capital.

Our room was on the 6th floor. After a quick check-in, I was very excited and curious as we were upgraded to a deluxe room with a view of the old city, just breathtaking! Enjoying such a beautiful panorama during your stay already makes your holiday successful! In addition, the room was spacious and equipped with all the necessary facilities. Nice details like the Illy espresso machine and Hermès bath products really stand out.

The crown jewel of the hotel, located on the seventh floor, is the restaurant and bar ‘Settimo’. One of the highest rooftop restaurants in the city, Settimo is an elegant botanical escape that offers panoramic views of the Villa Borghese gardens, Vatican City and St Peter’s Basilica. It has a bold interior and can seat up to 50 guests inside and 15 on the terrace. Cocktail lovers can enjoy sundowners with a view at Settimo, with one of Settimo’s signature drinks served with specially matching appetisers. The restaurant serves contemporary Roman dishes using ingredients from the region.

Meetings and events

Planning a meeting or seminar in Rome? Then you can’t go wrong with Sofitel Rome Villa Borghese. The hotel has three meeting rooms with a maximum capacity of 40 people or a maximum banquet capacity of 20. The meeting rooms and cosy lounge can be adapted for events, banquets, cocktail evenings or even private receptions. The hotel’s Meeting concierge is on hand to guide a range of activities and visits, suggesting customised menus from wine tastings to French patisserie. The hotel is also a popular business hub in the heart of Rome with boutique secretarial services.

Rome in summer is hot, temperatures are high, but it is also much quieter than, say, in autumn. If you want to explore Rome and can stand the heat well, August is undoubtedly the ideal time to visit. And you can always cool off at the hotel. In short, Sofitel Villa Borghese is a gem and I will undoubtedly return to this perfect place. – Wood Approved!

PS: Golden tip! Taxis in Rome tend to be old, and the drivers are not always ‘perfect gentlemen’ in traffic. That’s why I always book a private driver. The price is similar to current taxi fares, around 50 to 60 €. But you do sit in a comfortable Mercedes … driven by a gentleman.
