Last week, Solucious, partner in professional foodservice and part of Colruyt Group, organised a networking event for executives and decision-makers from the healthcare sector. Restaurant Vis van A at Antwerp’s Rijnkaai was the setting for this inspiring event on healthy and sustainable food in healthcare.
In close cooperation with the client, the event was prepared to perfection, with both the programme and the culinary content being tailor-made. The programme started with a reception with coffee, followed by a plenary session with a panel discussion on the future of healthcare.
The panel of healthcare experts exchanged views on current challenges and future trends in the sector. That even in healthcare, love goes through the stomach is not surprising … but what is achievable? The attendees named affordability of food and reducing food waste as one of the biggest challenges. To take steps towards sustainability, the sector is looking for more knowledge among care and nutrition professionals.
Afterwards, there was plenty of networking during the aperitif, with the Scheldt as a beautiful backdrop. Finally, a delicious 3-course lunch followed, preceded by a short word from chef and culinary entrepreneur Bart De Pooter. In it, he gave his views on sustainability in the kitchen and food industry and how he actively puts this into practice in his catering projects. The lunch itself consisted of sophisticated dishes prepared with fresh, local ingredients that fit within the chef’s sustainable ethos. Such as vegetables from his own garden in Rumst and day-fresh fish from the North Sea.
